Akul Juneja joins Julius Baer India as a managing director senior advisor, according to a statement. Based in New Delhi, Juneja will report to head wealth management Vrinda Mahadevia.
Juneja has 22 years of experience and was most recently working at HDFC Bank as senior regional head, north, private banking. Previously, he was a wealth management regional head and sales regional head at ICICI Bank.
Four senior relationship managers – Dhanmesh Tripathi, Abhishek Chopra, Munish Kumar and Sourabh Aggarwal – will also join the bank and report directly to Juneja.
According to Julius Baer, the new hires are part of the bank’s plans to further expand its India onshore business by «opening avenues» for new client segments in the northern region.
«North India is a key market for the bank and we are keen to expand our footprint in many new cities and metros over the next few years,» said Julius Baer India chief executive Umang Papneja.
Julius Baer is in the midst of a five-year transformation strategy in India with the aim of expanding its onshore wealth management business. Its planned growth targets include the doubling of relationship managers and clients, the tripling of assets and expansion to new cities.
