Mumbai News Today Live Updates, Jitendra Awhad: Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Vidarbha on Tuesday morning. Yesterday, he slammed the Narendra Modi-led Central government over the introduction of the Agnipath scheme, and said that the scheme will weaken the armed forces.

Supporters of NCP’s Jitendra Awhad have been holding protests out the Mumbra police station after a molestation case was filed against the leader by a BJP party worker on Sunday night. Supporters have been flocking the police station area and many shops too in Mumbra have been reportedly shut.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Jitendra Awhad announced Monday that he was resigning as a legislator after the the Mumbra police in Maharashtra registered a case against him for allegedly manhandling a woman activist of the BJP in a crowd while leaving from a function. This was the second First Information Report (FIR) registered against the Mumbra MLA within a week. He was last week arrested and booked for allegedly stopping the screening of a movie at a Thane cinema hall. “Police have filed two fake cases against me in the last 72 hours and that too under Section 354 of the IPC. This is the murder of democracy. I will fight. I have decided to resign from my MLA post” Awhad tweeted early on Monday. The NCP leader said that he was being targeted with “false cases”.

As part of countrywide raids on companies linked to MLA Abu Asim Azmi, certain spots in Mumbai too were raided by the Income Tax department.

“I am not aware of any raids being conducted on me. I am in Akola right now but I am  returning to Mumbai today,” Samajwadi party MLA Abu Asim Azmi said.

A 33-year-old doctor with a government hospital has been allegedly duped of Rs 80,000 on the pretext of getting high returns from investments in cryptocurrency.

The victim — a resident of Marine Drive — alleged in her complaint that on November 11, she came across a post on a friend’s Instagram saying, “I invested 500 in bitcoin mining with @audrea_fx_mccall and I got 5,700 profit in just five hours, made a withdrawal successfully.”

1993 Bombay serial blasts: CBI files chargesheet against four accused caught after 29 years

IN THE chargesheet filed against four accused booked in the 1993 Bombay serial blasts case, the CBI has alleged that they were present in the conspiracy meeting held in Dubai at the residence of absconding accused and global terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

The four persons were arrested for the blasts in May after being on the run for 29 years.

Abu Bakr, Mohammed Saeed, Mohammed Shoaib Qureshi, and Mohammed Yusuf Ismail Shaikh were arrested in May from Ahmedabad by the Gujarat ATS and CBI filed the chargesheet against them this month under relevant sections of the Terrorism and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act and on charges, including murder, under the Indian Penal Code. Live-in partner murder: Woman’s father approached police with missing person complaint in October

A 26-year-old woman who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend in Delhi was said to be in a live-in relationship with him since 2019 after her parents disapproved of their relationship, said the police in Maharashtra. The police identified the woman as Shraddha Walkar from Vasai and said her father approached the Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) police to file a missing person complaint in October this year. Shraddha Walkar (27), a Vasai resident, who was murdered allegedly by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala (28) in Delhi, wanted to break up with him because he “mentally tortured her and physically assaulted her several times”, but she continued their relationship as he emotionally blackmailed her and said he would die by suicide if she leaves him, her close friends told The Indian Express.

Sometime before Shraddha was murdered in May this year in Delhi, she told a close friend over the phone that they have “almost broken up” and she is finding a new place for herself in Delhi. (Read More)

Forty functionaries of the BJP and Congress from Latur in Maharashtra have joined the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, a district office-bearer from the CM-headed party said on Tuesday.

Shinde was present at the event in Mumbai on Sunday when they joined his party.

Among those inducted are former BJP Latur tehsil president Balaji Adsul, former zilla parishad member Rajkumar Kalame and former corporator Prakash Patil Wanjarkhedkar.

“We worked against Congress leader and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to strengthen the BJP, but today the scene is different,” Adsul told PTI. (PTI)
