At least eight people were killed and 18 others injured in India’s northeastern state of Manipur over the past three days, local media reported on Friday.
The casualties were reported in Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts, where a gunfight is underway between rival tribes over the past three days.
Manipur has been restless since May when large-scale violence broke out in the state during a tribal protest. The ongoing violence has so far killed over 160 people in the state.
The mobs in the state have been resorting to vandalism and arson during which hundreds of houses and shops were gutted. A large number of weapons have been looted from police stations and armories during the violence.
