India’s northeastern state of Assam began culling infected pigs on Monday following the outbreak of African swine fever (ASF), officials said.
The culling was carried out in Lakhimpur district, about 372 km northeast of Dispur, the capital city of Assam.
According to officials, over 1,000 pigs were culled in the district to prevent the outbreak of the disease.
The culling is done using electricity shocks under the supervision of a team of veterinarians.
